Turkish citizen wounded outside Ukraine's consulate general in Istanbul
KYIV, March 9. /UKRINFORM/. A security guard of Ukraine's consulate general in Istanbul, Turkey, wounded a Turkish citizen who forced his way into the consulate's territory at 0930 Kyiv time on Tuesday, March 9, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service has reported.
The statement says that the Turk was armed with a gun and shot several times in the direction of consulate officers.
The guard opened fire in response. The attacker was wounded and disarmed.
The police arrested the attacker. The causes of the incident are currently being investigated.
The employees of the Ukrainian diplomatic institution have been evacuated.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko ordered the creation at the ministry of a working group on strengthening the security and resuming the work of Ukraine's consulate general in Istanbul.
