Bulgarian lawmakers visit Turkish parliament

ANKARA, February 16. (A.A). Bulgarian parliamentarians paid a visit to the Turkish Parliament on Tuesday.

Members of the Foreign Relations and Defense Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament had a meeting with Nevzat Pakdil, deputy speaker of the Turkish Parliament, in Ankara.

"Our neighbor, Bulgaria is Turkey's door opening to Europe, and Turkey is Bulgaria's door opening to Asia," Pakdil said during the meeting.

Pakdil said Bulgaria was a member of the European Union (EU), and had been developed rapidly thanks to its experiences.

Two countries would always solve their problems as a whole, Pakdil said.

Pakdil also said it was easier for countries with good neighborly relations to get developed.

Also speaking in the meeting, Vladimir Toshev, deputy chairman of the Bulgarian committee, said the speaker of the Bulgarian parliament wished that Turkey would have the courage and power to become an EU member.

Toshev said Bulgaria had not forgotten what Turkey had done, and remembered Turkey's support when it was joining NATO.

Bulgaria was ready to share its experiences with Turkey on road to Turkey's EU membership, Toshev said.

Toshev said Turkey had completed its homework on road to EU in a short time so far, and expressed thought Turkey would successfully fulfil its duties from now on as it had the required infrastructure and potential.
