Yushchenko condoles on Serbia Patriarch death

KYIV, November 17. /UKRINFORM/. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has expressed condolences to the Episcopal Synod of the Serb Orthodox Church over the demise of Patriarch of Serbia, Archbishop of Pec, Metropolitan of Belgrade and Karlovtzy Pavel, the presidential press service reported.

“On behalf of all Ukrainians, I am extending most sincere condolences on this heavy, irreplaceable loss,” the message reads.

Yushchenko says the Patriarch's life was a bright example of earnest and selfless service to god, church and people.

The President also emphasized that Pavel was a good friend of Ukraine, a big admirer of Ukrainian cultural heritage, and supporter of inter-orthodox unity.
