Eighth victim of H1N1 flu in Serbia
KRUSEVAC, Nov 11. (Tanjug). Serbia has confirmed its eighth death caused by the new flu after Chief of the Infection Ward at the Krusevac Institute of Public Health Dragoljub Vuksanovic confirmed to Tanjug on Wednesday that a patient of that hospital died earlier that day of complications caused by the H1N1 flu.
The patient, 55, had other health problems that caused her lungs to be non-responsive, so she was connected to a respirator, but she still died early morning on Wednesday, Vuksanovic explained, adding that the A type H1N1 virus was found in the patient's sample at around 4 p.m.
More than 260 cases of the new flu have been registered in Serbia.
Serbia's Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic declared an epidemic in Serbia the same day, which means that risk groups within the population will be vaccinated urgently.
